Communications Specialist Intern

Location: Farmington or Norwalk, CT (Hybrid – Some Remote Work Possible)
Start Date: June 1 | Part-Time (20 hrs/week) | Paid (Minimum Wage)

FirstLight Home Care of Western Connecticut is a mid-sized, mission-driven home care agency serving communities across the state. We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Communications Specialist Intern to join our team for the summer. This is an excellent opportunity for a college student interested in gaining hands-on experience in communications, marketing, and data analytics within a dynamic healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities
The intern will support our marketing and operations teams with a range of tasks, including:

Assisting with content creation for social media, email campaigns, and print materials

Supporting search engine optimization (SEO) efforts and website updates

Collecting and analyzing marketing data to help inform strategy

Creating internal communications materials and supporting outreach campaigns

Participating in special projects to support business goals

Qualifications
We are looking for applicants who meet the following criteria:

Currently enrolled in a college program, pursuing a degree in communications, marketing, journalism, data science, business analytics, or a related field

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Familiarity with major social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)

Interest in digital marketing and data-driven strategy

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

Experience with tools like Canva, Mailchimp, Google Analytics, or SEO platforms is a plus, but not required

Position Details

20 hours per week, with some flexibility in scheduling

Hybrid work model: in-person at our Farmington or Norwalk office with some remote work available

Internship begins June 1

Paid at Connecticut minimum wage

Potential to continue into the academic year or return the following summer for undergraduate students
