COMPENSATION: $25 per hour, part-time 16-18 hours per week
START DATE: May 19, 2025
END DATE: August 14, 2025

The Digital Communications Contractor will implement communications strategies that advance Metro Caring’s mission and share the stories of our community.
- Support the use of strategic communications to advance the movement to end hunger
- Center anti-oppression work as an intrinsic part of anti-hunger work through communications channels
- Communicate Metro Caring’s mission to a variety of audiences using digital media, including social media and email marketing
- Highlight the impact of the taxpayer-funded Healthy Food for Denver’s Kids program that supports Metro Caring’s Food Access and Nutrition teams’ work
Digital Communications Contractor Duties
75% Coordinate Metro Caring’s social media calendar and online engagement:
- Brainstorm, create, write, schedule, and post content on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Bluesky using social media management software (Buffer)
- Organize content schedule in project management calendar (Asana)
- Collaborate with staff across the organization to collect and share content.
- Capture photos and/or videos using a mobile device.
- Conduct brief interviews to collect and share quotes from community members, staff, and volunteers.
- Evaluate and report on social media metrics and performance.
- Respond to comments and direct messages.
- Share content from partner organizations.
- Ensure brand integrity on social media platforms by using templates and brand resources to design content in Canva and/or Adobe Creative Cloud
10% Create and design monthly email newsletter, Action Alerts, fundraising emails, and other campaigns as assigned using email marketing software (MailerLite).
10% Edit and publish staff submissions for Metro Caring’s website events calendar, including creating relevant graphics, via content management system (WordPress)
5% Attend and participate in monthly Strategic Communications Committee meetings. Other special projects as interested and assigned.
Requirements
- Commitment to strengthening inclusion, diversity, equity, access, accountability, and action in anti-oppression and anti-racist work
- Excellent writing and detail-focused editing skills
- Proactive, self-motivated, and highly accountable with excellent follow-through skills
- Skilled at managing time and workload effectively and independently, including communicating meeting deadlines and support needed
- Ability and desire to work with a diverse group of people
- Willingness to give and receive constructive feedback
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications
- Experience posting and engaging on social media platforms
- Fluent in speaking and writing in English
Preferred Skills (not required)
- Bilingual in Spanish (highly preferred), Russian, Arabic, or Dari
- Experience with social media scheduling tools (e.g. HootSuite, Buffer, Sprout Social)
- Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g. MailerLite, Mailchimp, Constant Contact)
- Experience with content management systems (e.g. WordPress)
- Familiarity with photography techniques & best practices
- Experience conducting interviews
- Knowledge of graphic design principles and/or experience with design software, such as Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud
Schedule
All 16-18 weekly hours will be completed in-office, Monday through Thursday within Metro Caring’s working hours below. This position is not eligible for remote work.
- Monday: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Tuesday: 8 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
- Wednesday: 8 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
- Thursday: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Contractor can work two full 8-hour days, four half 4-hour days, or a combination that works with their schedule. The contractor can set their schedule with agreement with the supervisor.
We are willing to accommodate planned summer vacations/time off if disclosed in advance and agreed upon with supervisor. Because this is a contractor role, time off is unpaid. However, hours could be made up on other weeks.
