Summer Communications Intern

Reporting to the Senior Policy Advisor of the Division of Housing and Community Resources, the Summer Communications Intern will support the development and production of internal and external publications, such as reports, newsletters, and other publications. The intern will develop materials to provide information to the public regarding agency programs including eviction prevention, affordable housing, utility assistance, and veterans' homelessness initiatives.  

This position is ideal for students who are interested in a Communications career in or outside of government.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and curate engaging internal and external communications materials.
  • Design graphics for communications materials.
  • Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and collaboratively, and to manage short and long-term deadlines.
  • Collaborate with agency leadership and communications staff, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, Outlook, social media platforms, and taking video/photos.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, high attention to detail, highly creative, strategic thinker, self-motivated, and ability to solve problems.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Seeking individuals enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited university/college program with significant coursework in marketing, public relations, journalism, advertising, or communications.
  • Convey a positive attitude and be self-motivated.
  • Curiosity and motivation to learn and apply feedback to improve.
  • Ability to work in-person at our Trenton, NJ office.
