Public Health (Community Outreach) Intern

General Summary:

 

Under the general direction of the Director of Community Outreach, the Public Health Intern will actively participate in the Community Outreach team's initiatives, supporting the organization's mission to promote and improve public health within the community. Throughout the internship the intern will have the unique opportunity to engage in a diverse range of hands-on public health duties, gaining valuable experience and contributing to meaningful projects This person will also help assist the Community Outreach department with some administrative duties as needed.

The Community Outreach Intern must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours a week. Flexibility in scheduling is a must. Typical schedule will be Monday – Friday during normal business hours with occasional weekend event presence required. Position requires travel to Infinite Legacy regional offices (Falls Church, VA and Baltimore, MD).

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Conducting research on health-related topics, gathering data, and contributing to reports or presentations.
  2. Assisting in the development and implementation of health education and The Decision Project campaign for the community.
  3. Participating in outreach activities to promote public health services and resources.
  4. Collaborating with team members to organize and support health-related workshops, seminars, and community events.
  5. Providing support in data entry, analysis, and evaluation of public health programs and initiatives.
  6. Assisting in the coordination of street outreach through The Decision Project.
  7. Engaging in community surveys to assess health needs and collect feedback for program improvement.
  8. Collaborating with local organizations and stakeholders to foster partnerships for public health projects.
  9. Participating in team meetings and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills in the public health field.
  10. Works in close collaboration with other members of the Community Outreach department and provides administrative support as needed.

 

 Requirements:

  1. Candidates for the CO Public Health Intern position must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, majors preferred include Communications, Public Health, or related fields.
  2. Current Junior or Senior status in college Fall of 2025
  3. Must have a strong interest in public health
  4. Previous event volunteer experience a strong plus.
  5. Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  6. Database experience preferred.
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  8. A team player with a can-do attitude.
  9. GPA minimum of 3.0.
  10. Valid driver’s license, automobile and ability to travel throughout the state of Maryland.
  11. Local candidates only, stipend will not be provided.
