Marketing /Social Media Intern

Position Title: Marketing /Social Media Intern

Hours: 10 hours per week (hybrid position), May through August 2025 with possible extension beyond August.

Compensation: $17 per hourĀ 

About CMC:

Classical Music Chicago is dedicated to bringing world-class classical music to the community through free public performances. Our flagship programs consist of the Dame Myra Hess Concerts (Wednesdays at 12:15 pm throughout the year) and Rush Hour Concerts (Tuesdays at 5:45 pm, June through August).

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and creative Marketing Intern to join our team. This position will focus on building our social media presence, increasing audience engagement, and supporting our mission of bringing free classical music to the public and showcasing the next generation of classical musicians. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about classical music and interested in gaining hands-on experience in digital marketing and nonprofit work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement social media strategies to increase followers and engagement on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn and TikTok.
  • Create, schedule, and publish engaging content that highlights our concerts, musicians, and community impact.
  • Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and interactions on social media channels.
  • Analyze social media performance metrics and provide regular reports on growth and engagement.
  • Assist in creating visual and written content for newsletters, press releases, and promotional materials.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to brainstorm new ideas and campaigns.
  • Support the planning and promotion of upcoming concerts, events and donor campaigns.

Qualifications:

  • Current student or recent graduate in Marketing, Communications, Arts Management, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in classical music and the performing arts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and digital marketing tools.
  • Creative thinking and an eye for design.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • knowledge of graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Spark) is a plus.
