About Golden Spread

Golden Spread Electric Cooperative, Inc. (GSEC) is a not-for-profit generation and transmission cooperative organized in 1984 to provide low-cost, reliable electric power and energy to its 16 Member cooperatives.  

Golden Spread’s 16 Member systems provide service to approximately 320,000 electric meters serving member-consumers located in the Panhandle, South Plains and Edwards Plateau regions of Texas, an area covering 24% of Texas land mass, and in the Oklahoma Panhandle, Southwest Kansas and Southern Colorado. 

Golden Spread owns two natural gas fueled generation power plants and a wind turbine ranch, all within the Texas panhandle. With approximately 1,745 megawatts of owned generation, Golden Spread prides itself on reliably and efficiently meeting Members’ power supply needs with a flexible and diverse generation fleet that can maximize the benefits of participation in both the Southwest Power Pool and Electric Reliability Council of Texas.

 

Overview of Member Services Department

The Member Services department provides vital communications support to our 16 Member Cooperatives by enabling GSEC Members to effectively implement communications, media, and marketing strategies while strengthening strong positive relationships amongst Golden Spread and its’ Members. The Member Services Department is accountable for designing and preparing accurate, timely and engaging communication services to maintain a favorable public image for Golden Spread and its Members, increasing member consumer engagement. Member Services is critical to Golden Spread’s Members’ successful implementation of their media and marketing projects. Member Service team members portray a professional and positive image of Golden Spread, working collaboratively with Members to fulfill requests using marketing, graphic design, photography, website utilization and social media development.

 

Essential Job Functions 

  • Learn and gain exposure to the day-to-day operations of Member Services department.
  • Perform administrative-level work to support the Member Services department.
  • Assist with creating social media content.
  • Assist with creating communication materials.
  • Assist with the planning and production of the Member Cooperatives’ Annual Meetings.
  • Assist the Member Services department by working on various projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education, Knowledge, and Experience Required

  • Must be a college or university student, preferred junior or senior, pursuing a degree in public relations, communications, advertising, or related field of study.
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.2.
