Internship Description: The League of Women Voters of Massachusetts (LWVMA) is seeking one part-time intern to assist with events and social media in Summer 2025. The Marketing & Events Intern will help facilitate LWVMA’s social media campaign, support the organization with events this summer, and assist with other tasks as needed.

Organizational Overview: LWVMA is a nonpartisan political organization whose mission is to empower voters and defend democracy for all in Massachusetts. The organization implements its mission by encouraging informed and active participation in all levels of government and influencing public policy through education and advocacy. Since its founding in 1920, LWVMA has been a respected and trusted voice for grassroots participation in our democracy. With 44 local Leagues throughout the state, LWVMA has been at the forefront of efforts to empower and educate Massachusetts voters and affect change on a wide range of issues. League membership is open to people of all ages.

Responsibilities: 

  • Generate social media content for Facebook, Instagram, X, and Bluesky
  • Design graphics for upcoming events/announcements in Canva 
  • Create a social media plan that engages young people on various social platforms
  • Attend and assist with logistics around summer events including LWVMA Convention (June), Pride Month events (June), Black Pride Health Summit (July), and our Day on the Hill (date TBD)
  • Coordinate local League volunteers all over the Commonwealth
  • Host voter registration tables around Boston
  • Take photos at events

Details

This is a hybrid, part-time summer internship. The intern will be expected to work 25 hours/week and will receive a $5,000 stipend. The intern will be expected to work on-site in our Boston office once a week and must be located within commuting distance to Boston. Event attendance is non-negotiable; dates for these events will be relayed during the interview process. Interns may be asked to work weekend events. 

The Ideal Intern:

  • Has experience with graphic design (Canva is a plus) 
  • Has strong written and verbal skills
  • Has an interest in nonprofits, civic engagement, and community-building
  • Is tech-savvy and familiar with social media
  • Is responsible, reliable, and detail-oriented
  • Is committed to nonpartisan advocacy/civic efforts
