General Description:  Pasco’s Media Relations & Communications team is looking for an experienced social media expert to strategically design, review, organize and publish information on various social media platforms to maintain and improve media and community relations for Pasco County Government.

The Social Media Strategist works independently to manage the county's daily social media presence and provide advice and consultation on social media strategy and policy best practices.

You’ll be responsible for creating advanced, original and engaging content; providing skilled social media management, monitoring and analytics; and suggesting creative ways to promote Pasco County Government in the Tampa Bay Area.

As Social Media Strategist, you'll also take on a critical role in further developing and executing Pasco's online presence to inform and engage our customers – everyone who lives, works and plays in Pasco County. You'll work alongside an experienced team of communications professionals dedicated to telling Pasco's story in innovative ways.
 
This is a highly responsible position working under the general direction of the Media Relations & Communications Director to provide online, deadline-driven communications support to more than 50 lines of business on several platforms. Job duties can vary daily, as our internal and external customers guide our marketing, communications and production activities.

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Overseeing multiple social media account layouts and tailoring content for each platform.
  • Strategizing, conceptualizing, writing, designing, scheduling, publishing and monitoring online content for the county’s social media channels.
  • Creating engaging draft text and digital media content consistent with our messaging goals.
  • Attending various county events to further promote/highlight our accomplishments.
  • Ensuring all social content is vetted, accurate and timely.
  • Daily monitoring of county social platforms to ensure brand and voice consistency.
  • Responding to customer comments/questions/messages on all platforms, as appropriate, in a timely manner.
  • Exercising independent, professional judgment on social media planning and content.
  • Oversee/review work of other team members responsible for providing social content.
  • Researching audience preferences and monitoring industry trends, and updating our social strategies to maintain relevancy.
  • Offering new ideas and ways to engage customers, and recommending changes to ensure maximum effectiveness of our online communications efforts.
  • Maintaining and executing social media calendar(s).
  • Developing optimal posting schedule, considering customer engagement metrics.
  • Measuring and reporting social media engagement/performance metrics for all platforms to optimize messaging strategy/tactics.
  • Training team members to use social media tactics to increase public engagement.
  • Serving as social media consultant and troubleshooter for other county departments.
  • Coordinating social media campaigns from initial concept through completion.
  • Assisting with special projects that will benefit from the input of a social media expert .
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to deliver creative content for social channels, including design, layout, editing and/or manipulation of text/digital media.
  • General knowledge of communications technologies.
  • Ability to properly incorporate county branding standards/guidelines.
  • Skilled in accurate, effective and concise writing with correct context.
  • Familiarity with online marketing strategies and marketing channels.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use social media management software.
  • Ability to test in multiple interfaces/browsers for optimal performance.
  • Ability to grasp future trends in digital technologies and act proactively.
  • Excellent communication (written, verbal & interpersonal), multi-tasking and analytical skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal team members, external agencies and the public.
  • Highly motivated, organized, self-starter who needs little supervision.
  • Ability to work just as effectively independently as you do part of a team.
  • Ability to effectively manage a diverse project workload under tight deadlines.

Minimum Requirements:

PHYSICAL SKILLS:  Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Digital Media, Public Relations, Social Media Marketing, Communications, Social Media or related field that includes use of social media and multimedia technology and three (3) years of professional experience managing social media platforms, including content creation. Expertise in common social media platforms and their features, including Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, Nextdoor and LinkedIn. Proven strategic social media content creation, publishing, analytics/reporting experience.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.
