Communications Intern

Detailed Overview:
This internship will provide hands-on experience in media production, social media strategy, and public relations while helping the County strengthen its communication channels and relationships with residents.

 

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Images

  • Continue assisting in the comprehensive image inventory project by photographing all county-owned/maintained buildings, parks, and assets.
  • Continue building and organizing a robust library of high-quality images for future media production and communication initiatives.

 

Video Production

  • Support the creation of professional video content, including shooting, editing, and producing short videos that highlight county events, programs, or public service announcements.
  • Utilize video editing software and equipment to deliver engaging and polished productions.

 

Social Media Content Creation and Organization

  • Develop a workflow management platform (e.g., Asana) for the communications team to streamline content strategy and scheduling.
  • Design and implement social media campaigns focused on:
    • Rebuilding trust with residents
    • Enhancing residential engagement
    • Promoting unified messaging and cross-departmental collaboration
    • Partnering with local organizations to amplify messaging
  • Monitor engagement metrics, analyze performance, and recommend strategies for improving results.

 

Community Engagement

  • Assist in planning, promoting, and executing public engagement events, both in-person and online.
  • Design surveys or polls to gather feedback from residents, analyzing results to inform communication strategies.

 

Project-Based Deliverable

By the conclusion of the internship, the intern will develop and present a Digital Communications Campaign centered on one of Camden County’s initiatives. The campaign will include:

  • A photography and videography portfolio showcasing their work
  • An integrated social media campaign with measurable engagement metrics and analytics
  • A community engagement component, such as a survey, event, or similar project, with actionable insights derived from results

 

The intern will deliver a final presentation to the County’s Communications Department, highlighting their contributions and the overall impact of their efforts.

Special Skills Required: The ideal candidate should have basic experience with video production, including filming and editing using Adobe Premiere Pro. Familiarity with social media platforms and graphic design tools like Canva is beneficial. Strong written communication skills and a willingness to learn new software and equipment are also essential for success in this role.
