We champion and advance the adoption of evidence-based solutions that break down structural barriers to women’s political leadership. We mobilize changemakers to support these reforms.
RepresentWomen Structure
RepresentWomen is a national organization located in Silver Spring, MD, with staff members who work remotely all over the world. As an organization, we:
- Identify the most transformative, viable, and scalable structural reforms
- Research to determine the best practices to implement those reform
- Identify and help stakeholders apply this knowledge to make real-world change
RepresentWomen is on a fast growth trajectory. Our current team consists of 12 full-time staff members who are committed to maintaining positive, collaborative relationships with all organizational staff.
Summary/Description:
We are seeking undergraduate or graduate students dedicated to advancing women’s political representation and leadership through structural solutions. The Communications Intern will contribute to our efforts to develop and implement RepresentWomen’s communications strategies.
Ideal candidates should:
- Possess strong analytical writing skills: Help craft compelling messages for our audiences.
- Be detail-oriented: Accuracy and attention to detail are crucial for communication.

Demonstrate a strong interest in:
- Women’s representation and leadership in the United States and globally.
- Best practices for increasing women's representation across the ideological, racial, and geographic spectrum of the U.S.
- Communications, marketing, social media management, and public relations.
- Be proficient in Google Suite, Canva, and Hootsuite.
- Be available to work 15 - 20 hours a week for six months.
The Communications Intern will report to the Communications Manager and may have opportunities to shadow or assist the other departments. Communications intern applicants should familiarize themselves with our work to ensure they are matched with projects that fit their academic, personal, and professional experience and interests. Since RepresentWomen is a small and evolving team, successful interns should be collaborative self-starters and team players.
Responsibilities Include
Supporting the Communications Team and other departments by:
- Developing engaging content for our social media platforms.
- Monitoring social media engagement and news outlets for relevant stories.
- Share relevant content from our partners and allies,
- Writing blog posts, op-eds, email blasts, newsletter blurbs, and other outreach materials,
- Copyediting and content-editing our 2026 Visionary Women’s Planner.
- Providing administrative support as needed (may include website updates, event support, and digital organization)

Additional Information
- Start and end dates are flexible. Students are welcome to tailor their weekly hours to accommodate any academic commitments.
- Compensation is $16/hour for undergraduate and $18/hour for graduate students.
