Student Trainee (Public Affairs) (Recent Graduate) - OIG

Summary

We are an independent office within the EPA that helps the agency protect the environment in a more efficient & cost effective manner. We perform audits, evaluations, & investigations of the EPA to promote economy, efficiency, and to prevent and detect fraud, waste and abuse. Duties

The EPA OIG is seeking recent graduates under the Pathways Program. This position is provided for recent graduates with a desire to work in the Office of the Inspector General and assignments are designed to complement the graduates educational field while meeting the expressed needs of the agency and organizations.

The Office of Congressional and Public Affairs communicates with Congress, the news media and the general public about the OIG’s work, including responding to inquiries and requests.  OCPA coordinates the issuance of and disseminates OIG reports and correspondence.  This office also is responsible for managing the OIG’s communications and social media platforms, creating multimedia products, operating the OIG’s main phone line and email inbox, and handling internal communications.

This position will support the EPA OIG’s digital communications efforts, including graphics production; photography; videography; podcast production; blog monitoring and posting; and social media support activities; and other public affairs support.

The ideal candidate will perform the following duties:

  • Produces engaging videos, from ideation to post-production, that support and promote the OIG’s internal and external products and initiatives.
  • Produces podcasts for the OIG’s public podcast series.
  • Produces infographics and data visualization graphics for public reports.
  • Creates and updates graphic design-based print and web promotional products.
  • Captures field and OIG event photography, edits photos, and coordinates with staff.
  • Captures studio photography, edits photos and coordinates sessions.
  • Creates and maintains image, video, and podcast directory and archives.
  • Tracks social media and other public products metrics and updates performance tracking online dashboard.
  • Monitors internal communications and produces OIG employee blog content.
  • Assists with ideation and developing innovative digital communications strategies.
  • Participates in developing original, engaging short- and long-form social media content in a variety of formats to increase audience awareness, understanding, and engagement with OIG work and activities.
  • Tracks social media metrics to help evaluate content performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and provides Search Engine Optimization (SEO) support.
