Dallas International Film Festival - Social Media Internship (Spring 2025)
Position Overview: The Dallas Film team is seeking motivated and passionate interns for the 2025 Dallas International Film Festival (DIFF). This unique social media internship offers hands-on experience in digital marketing, film promotion, and festival operations, providing valuable insight into social media strategy and the world of film festivals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Social Media Content Creation & Scheduling: Assist in creating and scheduling engaging social media posts that promote the festival, films, and filmmakers.
- Film Screening & Research: Watch films that we will be featuring on social media and familiarize yourself with their content, filmmakers, and key themes. Assist in creating posts that highlight films in a way that resonates with our audience.
- Tracking Filmmaker Engagement: Support the tracking of filmmakers and their works to ensure accurate representation and engagement on our platforms.
- Festival Operations Support: Assist in capturing live content during the Dallas International Film Festival (April 25 - May 1, 2025) and helping with on-site social media coverage.
Weekly Meetings:
- Group Film Discussions: Participate in weekly 1-hour discussions focused on the films we will be promoting, gaining a deeper understanding of the content.
- Social Media Strategy Updates: Attend strategy meetings to discuss ongoing campaigns, content performance, and upcoming tasks.
Learning Opportunities:
- Gain experience in social media management, film marketing, and digital engagement strategies.
- Learn to work with key systems such as Slack, Google Sheets, Google Drive, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and various social media scheduling tools.
- Work in a hybrid structure combining remote work with on-site responsibilities during the festival.
Collaboration Opportunities:
Interns will work closely with both the Programming Team and the Social Media Manager to ensure cohesive promotion of the festival's film lineup. You'll gain hands-on experience in how programming decisions influence social media strategy, and how to craft engaging content that aligns with the festival's vision.
Programming Team: You'll be involved in discussions about films that have been selected, understanding their context and significance. This knowledge will be used to create authentic and insightful social media posts that resonate with our audience.
Social Media Coordinator: You'll receive guidance on best practices for content creation, audience engagement, and campaign planning. Through this close collaboration, you'll learn how to translate the essence of films into compelling social media content, helping to drive interest and excitement for the festival.
Ideal Candidate:
- Appreciation for film and digital marketing, with a strong interest in promoting independent films and supporting filmmakers.
- Excellent writing skills, creativity in content creation, and a strong understanding of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok).
- Familiarity with Asana, Slack, Google Sheets, Google Drive, Adobe Creative Suite, and Canva is a plus but not required.
Program Dates:
- January - May 2025
- Attendance at the Dallas International Film Festival (April 25 - May 1, 2025) is required.
This application is for college credit, otherwise it would be a volunteer position.
