The Engagement Intern will maintain and build relationships with community stakeholders, RTD customers, and partner organizations by participating in community engagement events, presenting RTD information to schools or community partners, and supporting RTD’s employee engagement efforts.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:                                                 

Essential:

  • Plans and executes outreach programming to promote RTD initiatives and educational campaigns under minimal supervision.
  • Establishes relationships with internal departments, including Transit Police, Service Development, Civil Rights, Planning, Government Relations and the Board Office to facilitate various community outreach programs.
  • Develops and delivers educational information about RTD services at neighborhood and public meetings and community events.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of activities and provides feedback to the Manager, Community Engagement for continuous improvement.
  • Develops collaborative relationships with stakeholders to develop and disseminate information on RTD initiatives, campaigns, promotional materials, opportunities for public comment and other agency deliverables.
  • Writes and compiles summary reports of engagement events, assisting with data entry of department metrics and outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS:


• Current student in good standing pursuing a college degree in Communications, Public Administration, Public Relations, Human Resources, Public Affairs or a closely related field.
• Basic writing and editing skills.
• Basic public speaking and presentation skills.
• Project management experience, preferred.
• Ability to work independently, exercising good judgment and decision-making skills.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to efficiently manage time and workload to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, up to 20 hours per week, including attending events and meetings that may occur during evening hours or weekends.
OR
• An equivalent combination of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics consistent with required qualifications as determined in the job analysis.

 

Pay for this position is $19.00/hr. Maximum work hours per week is 20.
