Social Media/Editorial Intern
Busted Halo is a unique media resource that utilizes a relevant and accessible voice to help people understand the Catholic faith, put it into practice in their everyday lives, and share it with others. Our website features fun and engaging content that tackles a broad range of subjects – faith and culture, social issues, moral dilemmas, and spirituality. In addition, we host “The Busted Halo® Show” on Sirius XM’s Catholic Channel.
As an intern at Busted Halo, you will gain hands-on experience with a small, creative team on the editorial process and social media management. Tasks might include:
- Brainstorming and pitching ideas for publication
- Developing a list of writers and experts who might contribute
- Repurposing/rewriting existing content for publication
- Writing/rewriting headlines to make the biggest impact with readers
- Helping to develop an editorial calendar
- Scheduling and publishing content online
- Conducting photo research
- Writing original articles
- Writing teases for social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram
- Learning best practices for using social media professionally
- Brainstorming ideas for content to share with our followers
- Researching viral trends and relevant topics for digital content
- Creating original graphic designs
At Busted Halo, you can take advantage of opportunities to write for the website.
Here’s what we are looking for in an intern:
- Excellent writing and grammar skills
- Creativity
- Enthusiasm and energy
- Familiarity with a variety of social media platforms

- Ability to take an assignment and run with it

- Team player
Not required, but we’d love if you have:
- Familiarity with WordPress
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc)
Compensation: $16/hour
Schedule: 2 days/week (10 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. ET). This is a synchronous internship
