Fundraising and Development Intern Fall/Winter (Hybrid-Minneapolis, MN)

Join Clean Water Action's Phone Canvass team to gain experience, build your resume, or launch your career in the nonprofit world!

Our phone canvass works to develop our members into activists and long-term investors in our advocacy work. Our members are critical for shifting policy, electing environmental champions, and creating lasting change to protect our water resources in MN and the US. Callers are trained on our campaigns and gain experience in organizing, environmental activism, politics, non-profit work, and fundraising. Prior work in any of these areas will support success in this position.

This hybrid position is perfect for students and recent graduates, with opportunities for long-term growth. Candidates who possess a strong commitment to environmental, social, and political justice, have a positive attitude, and are energized by hitting goals will be well suited for this role. The initial training is done in-office (Downtown Minneapolis), with hybrid/remote shifts available after successful training. 3 month commitment. Flexible start date.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

- Promote action on progressive issues to influence national, state, and local decision makers

- Call existing members and educate them on current campaigns, fundraise, and get commitments to take action

- Develop long-term sustaining donors to fund our research, lobbying and educational campaigns

- Ensure all new contributions and changes to member records are handled appropriately

- Identify and activate individuals who wish to participate in other activities, including letter writing, attending meetings, volunteer time, turning out the vote, etc.

Requirements:

- Possess a genuine commitment to progressive politics, environmental issues, and diversity

- Excellent verbal communication skills

- Confident asking for monetary contributions

- Self-motivated and goal-oriented

- Strong organizational skills, detail oriented for record keeping

- Able to commute to downtown Minneapolis for initial training, and then once per week afterward

- Posses a secure home environment with a strong private internet connection for remote work

- Comfortable using an Android phone, Slack and MS Teams

- Comfortable using/learning new web or app communication and reporting tools

- Able to participate in daily video and teleconferencing training and briefings

- Commit to at least 3 months of employment (flexible start date)
