About Four Stories
Four Stories is a paid 10-week filmmaking fellowship created by Fourddo in collaboration with the Good Services Lab at Harvard’s Bloomberg Center for Cities.
The fellowship supports four young creatives in developing and producing original 3–5 minute PSA-style short films rooted in civic and social issues impacting their communities—housing, education, violence prevention, mental health, public health, climate justice, and more.
Selected fellows enter with a story they want to tell and move through the full filmmaking process: writing, development, fundraising, casting, production, post-production, and premiere.
Each fellow is paired with:
A civic mentor (community leader, advocate, policymaker, organizer)
A filmmaker mentor (director, producer, editor, or creative professional)
The program ends with a public premiere and civic dialogue event in Boston.
We believe young people are not future storytellers—they are the storytellers now.
What You’ll Do
As a Four Stories Fellow, you will create your own original PSA short film and participate in weekly workshops, mentorship sessions, and collaborative production experiences.
Responsibilities Include:
Develop and pitch your original film concept
Participate in weekly virtual + in-person fellowship sessions
Collaborate with mentors, filmmakers, and community leaders
Complete story development, pre-production, and production planning
Film and edit your PSA project with support from the fellowship team
Participate in feedback sessions, peer review, and networking opportunities
Premiere your final project publicly at the end of the fellowship
You do not need professional film experience—just a strong idea, perspective, and willingness to create.
Who You Are
We’re looking for fellows who are:
Ages 16–25 and Boston-based (or able to participate locally)
Passionate about storytelling, film, media, or creative expression
Interested in civic and social issues impacting their communities
Excited to collaborate and grow creatively
Reliable, communicative, and able to commit to the full 10-week fellowship
We care more about your perspective and story than your technical experience.
What You’ll Receive
Paid fellowship stipend
Mentorship from filmmakers + civic leaders
Equipment access and production support
Networking opportunities and city outings
Access to workshops and creative resources
A public premiere for your final film
Even if you are not selected as one of the four fellows, there may still be opportunities to support on production crews and participate in networking experiences.
