Collaboratory Summer Internships: Building Capacity in Science Policy Careers
About Us: The NC Collaboratory is a research organization based at UNC-Chapel Hill that utilizes the expertise of the UNC System for the benefit of state and local government. We are excited to offer an internship opportunity for motivated college students who are eager to gain hands-on experience and contribute to our dynamic team.
Position Overview: We are seeking passionate and driven interns to join our Summer Internship program. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to support Collaboratory research projects. You will work closely with our staff, project leads and policy-makers to conduct background research, draft legislative reports and briefs, and develop communications materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interact with Collaboratory project leads, project stakeholders, and policy-makers.
- Track relevant legislative bills and regulatory proposals related to Collaboratory projects.
- Identify specific Collaboratory projects of interest to work on.
- Develop written materials and deliverables for communication of Collaboratory projects.
Qualifications:
- Strong writing skills, policy analysis and previous research experience
- Demonstrated interest through classes or work experience in state policy issues and research.

Duration and Compensation:
- The period of the internship is for 10 weeks over the summer and 40 hours per week.
- Compensation: $18 an hour
