My manager ensured I had plenty of meaningful work to occupy me. He also ensured I was challenged and learning the entire summer.
What I wish was different
I do wish I had the opportunity to do more structural analysis. I did several projects, but a decent portion involved coding, which isn't my interest.
Advice
Take the opportunity to network inside and outside of your direct team. Everyone that I can across at NGC was willing to take the time to talk to me about there experience and offer guidance in my career path ahead. Take the time to put in meaningful effort and ask all the questions. They know you don't know everything coming in, but they are 100% willing to teach you what you need to know.

What I liked
My summer internship at Northrop Grumman was a very eye-opening and exciting experience. As my first internship, it allowed me to fully be able to connect all the concepts I've learned in school to real-world projects and situations.
What I wish was different
Wish there was a more organized structure with my various assigned projects, and more collaboration would be beneficial.
Advice
Don't be afraid to speak up and ask questions! As an intern, everyone understands that you're not supposed to know everything right away, and they are always more than willing to clarify things and help. Show initiative and stay open-minded to any new projects/experiences.

They put on events to introduce you to the company and showcase the work you have done.

Lots of red tape with govt work. Things often move slow

When you gather the interns, give them an overview of various projects going on in the company, they would be more likely to come back.

It's a supportive and quiet environment. The work load is not too much and there's a lot of privileges given while working there. The pay was high for an internship and my co-workers/boss all cared about my career.
What I wish was different
I wish that there would be more software development and mentors in that field. Since this location has a small number of employees there wasn't anyone who could mentor me.
Advice
Apply to everything you can and shoot your shot. While in the job, get to know the people and the company there. If the company likes you and hired you, there is probably a offer awaiting at the end. Don't be afraid to ask for help and don't be afraid to ask about your future in the company if you like it there. That would be a talk you'll have with your manager/boss.

My friends, and my team was an amazing team of capable intelligent software developers
What I wish was different
Inconsistency - some interns got paid to go to intern events and I did not and was expected to make up hours despite the events being mandatory
Slow - it took them 2 weeks to get Visual Studio on my computer, they took 2 weeks for my laptop, everything needs to be approved and is ultra slow
They either overworked or didn't have any work for Interns
Advice
Work there for the experience and to learn about corporate life and get a little knowledge about defense, but if your not engineering they don't really value you so find a place that values you.

I enjoyed the projects and daily tasks I was given. I really liked working with the component test group and being able to help run the tests. My manager was really hands on with interns and was helpful in ensuring I had a good experience there. My whole team was very welcoming.

There were some days where I had less to do than others. I prefer to keep busy than to not have much to do.
Advice
I was lucky enough to some how be granted an interim security clearance and this enabled me to work on real projects with my team.
